Iran, Azerbaijan seek to boost economic ties

The shared historical and cultural background alone is not enough to continue the two countries relations and we need joint economic activities for the sustainability of these relations, Irans Finance Minister Farhad Dejpasand said during a meeting with the Azerbaijani Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev.

(SHADA: TEHRAN) -- Referring to the necessity of strengthening economic relations between the two countries, Dejpasand said: The development of joint venture and foreign trade is the pillars of strengthening bilateral relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has good capacities to develop cooperation in the fields of investment, customs, taxation and insurance, which can be used in the form of a joint commission, he added.

At the meeting, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahil Babayev expressed his satisfaction with the visit, and said that the meetings of the Presidents of the two countries during the last 5 years confirmed the willingness of Iran and Azerbaijan to promote comprehensive exchanges.

Pointing to the 70% growth in the volume of trade between Iran and Azerbaijan, he stated: One of the most important joint projects was the Iran-Azerbaijan meter factory.

The Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan also expressed his satisfaction with Iran's approach to the joint economic commission and said: The activities of the Joint Commission will certainly enhance the economic cooperation between the two countries.
