During a visit to Salafchegan Special Economic Zone in Qom Province, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran said the countrys export volumes have increased in terms of weight during the first quarter of the Iranian calendar year (March 21 - June 21).
(SHADA: TEHRAN) -- Farhad Dejpasand called Salafchegan Special Economic Zone one of the oldest special zones of the country in terms of the number and variety of economic units and said it is very important for us to solve the problems of manufacturing units of the country, especially the Salafchegan zone.
"One of the problems this zone faces is the lack of utilization of its nominal capacity, which caused its index to be lower than the average of the entire country's special zones."
The Minister further pointed to some of the problems of manufacturers in Salafchegan Special Zone and stated: Fortunately, with the package of monetary policy approved by the five-member committee (consisting of the Ministers of Economy, Oil, Industry, the Head of the Plan and Budget Organization and the Head of the Central Bank), and announced by the Central Bank this year, export conditions were facilitated, resulting in an increase in the returns on the exporters' currencies.
We are completely aware of the problems of transfer costs, especially in the current state of the country; therefore, we have considered a percentage for exempting exporters for the cost of the transfer, Dejpasand added.
Stating that in the announced monetary policy, a significant portion of the currencies could be placed on the Sana market and another could be returned to the country as 'exports in exchange of imports', he said: In these circumstances, exporters will be definitely encouraged to return their export currencies to the country.
Dejpasand also referred to the provisions of the 1398 budget law, which states exporters may get tax exemptions in proportion to the currency they return to the country, and said it is also another important incentive for export returns.
The Minister of the Economy further said that the country's export volume in terms of weight increased in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, and added exports also increased in terms of value.
In another part of his remarks, he pointed to his visit to Salafchegan Special Economic Zone and said: The production of some units in the zone has grown well over the same period last year, and some units are even seeking to increase their activities to three shift jobs.
I think that with the assistance and efforts of Qom province officials, it is very easy to launch the third phase of Salafchegan Special Economic Zone in the near future, said Dejpasand.
Due to the importance of Salafchegan Special Economic Zone in the future plans of the government and the Ministry of Economy, the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran has already implemented some of its pilot plans in the zone in order to apply them in other parts of the country in the future.
